Oak Woods Cemetery

Oak Woods Cemetery was established in 1854, with the first burials taking place in 1860. Soon after the end of the Civil War, between 4,000 and 6,000 Confederate solders who were prisoners and died at Camp Douglas were buried here beneath a towering monument.

Located at 1035 E. 67th Street in Chicago, not far from Lake Michigan, Oak Woods Cemetery covers 184 acres. The grounds include four small lakes.
