Beaujolais Nouveau 2011, the first young wine made this season in the Beaujolais region of France, goes on sale at the stroke of midnight the morning the third Thursday of November with great celebration around the world. Here are a few places that will be pouring it in Chicagoland beginning Nov. 17. Mon Ami Gabi, [...] Bloomingdale’s Shiraz on the Water serves up prime rib with jus, horseradish sauce, veggies and bread and butter every Friday and Saturday night in a three-course special that includes a choice of soup or salad, plus side dish and dessert. Prices range from $24 with a petite 9-ounce cut to $31 with 16-ounce king-size. Traditional mooncakes and other authentic fare mark the Mid-Autumn Festival menu at Shanghai Terrace on the Magnificent Mile. Legend has it that the cakes commemorate the 14th-century Chinese rebellion against Mongol oppression. The rebels communicated with their compatriots by hiding the slips of paper in smuggled cakes.
