The Kentucky Derby races into action this weekend, and Chicago is filled with events and specials to celebrate. One such example is the Kentucky Derby happy hour taking place at Lottie’s Pub on May 7. The Bucktown staple will feature $4 Kentucky bourbons and $5 mint juleps from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., and guests are encouraged to come clad in their best Derby hat for the chance to win a Woodford Reserve Limited Edition Derby bottle.

Derby Day at III Forks Prime Steakhouse

The Derby Day celebrations at III Forks head to the rooftop for a special soiree from 4:00 p.m. until midnight on May 7. Before the race begins, attendees will have the opportunity to place guesses on who they think will win, place, and show, with prizes awarded to those who guess the first, second, and third place horses. Drink specials for the evening include $5 Maker’s Mark Juleps, $5 Effen Cucumber Collins, $6 Knob Creek Old Fashioneds, and $6 Maker’s Mark 46 Sazeracs. When the race kicks off at 5:24 p.m., coverage will be aired on multiple television screens.

One of the hottest Derby Day shindigs, year after year, takes place at Tavern on Rush. And this year is no exception. The fifth annual event takes place May 7 all day long, wherein guests are encouraged to get dressed up in Southern style. Along with food specials and $5 Mint Juleps, a Derby Day hat contest will award a $500 gift card to the first place winner and a bottle of Dom Perignon to second.

Bourbon & Oysters Celebration at Pearl Tavern

Bourbon and oysters share the stage for a special Derby Day party at Pearl Tavern this weekend. From 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., the event features bourbon tastings, Mint Juleps, and small bites. The event benefits the #CraveCCC campaign for the Chicago Children’s Choir and Derby attire is required. Tickets to attend are $45 per person.
