Municipal Executive Chef Donald Penza & Mercadito Hospitality Chef Guillermo Tellez introduce a new menu highlighting inventive sliders just in time for the warm weather

Spring has finally sprung, and with it, Municipal Bar + Dining Co. (216 W. Ohio St.) is pleased to introduce a refined, contemporary American menu co-created by Municipal Executive Chef Donald Penza and Mercadito Hospitality Chef Guillermo Tellez. In April of this year, the comfortably stylish Chicago-centric restaurant and sports bar located in River North forged an operating partnership with Mercadito Hospitality who assisted with building upon the concept’s current successes and ushered it to the next level with an expert team of professionals that specialize in operations, marketing, beverage, and culinary offerings.

The new menu features an array of progressive, American dishes with a particular focus on inventive sliders, which allows guests to try a variety of interesting and seasonal flavors throughout their meal. New sliders include the Municipal Dip with roasted prime rib, fresh horseradish sauce, and au jus; Spicy Peanut Chicken with grilled onions and cilantro on a steamed bun; Grilled Mushroom with gruyere cheese, cremini mushrooms, maitake mushrooms, portobello mushrooms, and mornay sauce; Black Bean & Lentil Burger with roasted tomato, avocado, and chipotle; and Honey BBQ Roasted Pork with fried onions and housemade BBQ sauce. Designed for easy sharing, the menu also offers housemade flatbreads, seasonal salads, gourmet burgers, hearty sandwiches, and a variety of specialty starters like Fried Pickles with chipotle and spicy dill dipping sauces and Smoked Bacon Deviled Eggs with shallots and pickled fresno chile. Entrées include a 10oz Rib Eye Steak with choice of garlic-parmesan or BBQ spiced fries; Fried Chicken with creamy slaw; and fresh Fish Tacos with tomato salsa, jalapeño, and spicy cabbage.


Co-created by the Tippling Brothers, Municipal’s beverage program focuses on craft beers, wines, and specialty cocktails. Like its food menu, the libations menu highlights seasonal flavors and fresh ingredients, and features an extensive list of innovative “Municipal Mule” selections served with ginger beer and fresh lime, like the Tennessee Honey with Jack Daniel’s honey whiskey; Irie Mon with Bacardi pineapple-infused rum; Double M with Absolut mandarin vodka; and a seasonally crafted Mule of the Moment. VIP Bottle Service is also available.
