Bourbon and barbecue meet in the Loop


It’s Whiskey Wednesday this week at Encore Liquid Lounge. The watering hole at Hotel Allegro in the Loop hosts a boozy barbecue evening at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, featuring a three-course dinner paired with Knob Creek bourbon and rye.

Dinner starts with a spring salad of organic greens, plum tomatoes, asparagus, red onions, pine nuts, cranberries and mozzarella, drizzled with house-made balsamic, followed by ribs slathered with Knob Creek-infused barbecue sauce, creamy coleslaw and jalapeno corn bread and ends with German chocolate cake topped with house-made Knob Creek Single Barrel-flavored ice cream.

A representative from Knob Creek maker Jim Beam will be on hand to talk about the whiskeys paired with each course, and the Josh Miller Trio will play their regular Wednesday jazz set till 8 p.m.

The dinner costs only $30, plus tax and tip. Reservations are required.
