Chef Jeremy Brewington brings a braai dinner to Company in Evanston at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

The traditional South African barbecue is cooked all over South Africa and transcends its myriad cultures. “Braai Day” is celebrated annually on South Africa’s Heritage Day, Sept. 24.

Brewington’s dinner, served family style, features grilled eggplant and tomato with feta and cardamom; mixed greens with roasted sweet potato, red onion and lemon apricot vinaigrette; carrot and cashew salad with golden raisins, yogurt and allspice; black-eyed pea salad with curry, apricots, ginger and cilantro; braai, South African barbecue served with piri piri sauce and mango chutney; spiced beef ribs; piri piri chicken; lamb and apricot sosaties and passion fruit mousse with ginger pistachio lacy.

The price is $80, including wine, and BYOB is permitted. Reservations are encouraged.
