Learn how to join the cocktail culture this summer with these wine and spirits-laced classes.

  • In the Alfresco Summer Cocktail Class at 6 p.m. tomorrow at Epic in River North, mixologist Michael Cristiani will show you how to mix a Sex Panther, with Bacardi Dragonberry, mango puree and club soda; a Mayan Horizon, featuring 10 Cane, peach bitters, agave nectar, pineapple juice, ginger ale and The Master, made of Maestro Dobel, Pama, agave nectar, jalapeno, lime. The class is $25. Epic also hosts a grilling class for women on June 22. Reservations required.

  • Pastry Chef Kate Milashus explores Desserts Made with Wine at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at Zed451 in River North. She’ll discuss and demonstrate how to prepare such sweets as beaujolais sabayon with berries, white-wine-poached peaches and rose granita. The $20 fee includes a cocktail, desserts and a take-home treat. Reservations are required.

  • During the June 18 cocktail tasting and class at Koi in Evanston, Bar Manager Dan Roer will show how to create some of Koi’s signature cocktails and new creations, including Down the Stretch with Grey Goose, ice tea, sour mix and Chambord; Feisty Blood Orange with Grey Goose, blood orange juice, lemon juice, simple syrup, cranberry juice, garnished with a thin jalapeno slice; Back Stage with Grey Goose, Cointreau, grapefruit juice, simple syrup and ginger ale; Wandering Poet with Grey Goose, sake, lychee puree, lime juice, simple syrup and pickled ginger; Negroni with Bombay Sapphire East, sweet vermouth and Campari; and the Sapphire Bramble with Bombay Sapphire East, lemon juice, simple syrup and Chambord. There will also be hors d’oeuvres including spring rolls, crabmeat wontons, sushi bites and more. Participants will receive recipes to take home and a $10 gift certificate for use on their next visit to Koi. Tickets are $20.
