Greek dinner celebrates healthy cuisine

A tour of the new exhibit “American Moments — Greek immigration to Chicago” at the Hellenic Museum in Greektown, discussion of the healthfulness of the Mediterranean diet and a dinner of Greek specialties with wine feature in “Grecian Delights — An Evening of Art, Cuisine and Wine” at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 22.

The evening, sponsored by ChicaGourmets, celebrating their 16th anniversary, starts at the museum with dinner to follow at Greek Islands, in honor of its 42nd anniversary. The dinner features the restaurant’s new heart-healthy menu with wine from Managing Partner Gus Couchell’s Monemvassia vineyard.

The menu will include spetsofai,sausage with peppers and onions;fried eggplant smothered in a tangy tomato sauce; bekri meze, pork tenderloin sauteed with wine and peppers; gigantes, Greek lima beans; Greek-influenced salad; and entree choices including salmon baked in parchment paper, topped with vegetables; vegetarian moussaka; and beef kapama, beef medallions simmered in tomato sauce over pasta; plus dessert.

The evening costs $79. Paid reservations required at by April 18.
