Illinois cheese dinner slated for Logan Square

Amy Marcoot from Marcoot Jersey Creamery in Greenville, Ill., brings a selection of her farmstead cheeses to Logan Square for a dinner at Jam Restaurant.

The evening, sponsored by the Great American Cheese Collection begins at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, with a sampling Marcoot havarti, gouda, smoked gouda and aged Alpine.

Next, the cheeses will feature in Jam Chef Jeffery Mauro’s four-course menu of Scotch egg with fennel sausage, frisee, pickled red onions and havarti; warm Peekytoe crab salad with aged Alpine cheese, sauce mornay, tarragon and coriander crostini; burrito Suizo with smoked gouda, buckwheat crepe, braised beef, melted onion, tomato crema and jardinere; and ricotta cheesecake with macerated cherries, candied Meyer lemon rind and toasted hazelnuts.
