Flip over free flapjacks Tuesday

Mallory Hagan, Miss America, fries flapjacks for National Pancake Day at IHOP.

Area IHOP restaurants will serve free short stacks of buttermilk pancakes on National Pancake Day in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Diners are invited to donate; the chain hopes to raise $3 million. All donations will go to the charity.

The promotion takes place from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at all city and suburban IHOP locations.

“Millions of free pancakes served on National Pancake Day mean millions of miracles for those in need,” says Julia Stewart, interim president of IHOP and CEO of its parent company, DineEquity, Inc. “We plan to once again flip and serve about 4 million free pancakes for charity.”
