Say cheese for Valentine’s Day

Fromagier Giles Schnierle hosts a pre-Valentine’s Day “Cheese Market Plus” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at his Great American Cheese Collection Warehouse in Back of the Yards.

Schnierle will be offering samples and selling nearly 100 cheeses, including a special Valentine’s Day cheese, Chocolate Chevre, a blend of dark chocolate and creamy fresh goat cheese from Westfield Farm of Hubbardston, Mass., and Lock 21, a raw cow’s milk camembert made by Brian Shlatter of Canal Junction in Defiance, Ohio;

Additional vendors include, Mayana hand-crafted chocolates; Art Jackson of Pleasant House Bakery with hot savory pies as well as frozen pies to reheat at home; Suzi’s & Joseph’s Tea Co., selling over 70 high quality loose leaf teas and contemporary teaware; Duck n Roll, offering “bacos,” a fusion of Asian bao and tacos, with such flavors as 5-spice duck baco, miso-braised beef short rib, Thai chicken, and vegetarian tofu; TwoFold, feturing unique granolas and nut blends; Knife Maestro Brian Graham, a knife maker, restorer and expert sharpener; Grandma Pearl’s Famous BBQ; and others.
