Today is National Chocolate Cake Day! This layered beauty, from Benny’s Chophouse in River North, was inspired by one made by Pastry Chef Aaron Lindgren’s l grandmother Flo. The moist, three-layer devil’s food cake starts with cocoa, heated with vanilla bean and water, and finishes with rich sour cream frosting made from a blend of Valrhona and Guittard chocolate and a drizzle of chocolate sauce, $10.99.
