Meat vs. Beet

Burger maven Tim Canning, chef/owner of Zest Bistro and Lemon Tree Grocer in Downers Grove and raw food/vegan doyenne Karyn Calabrese of Karyn’s Fresh Corner in Lincoln Park face off Sunday, Oct. 21, in “Meat vs. Beet,” a cooking challenge to celebrate the grocery’s introduction of Karyn’s food products. The two chefs will showcase various signature dishes from 4 to 6 p.m. and attendees can sample the meaty and meatless dishes side by side with sustainable and organic wine.

Admission is $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Proceeds benefit Chicago Canine Rescue, Safe Humane Chicago and the Downers Grove Junior Women’s Club.
