You can still get some big pig

Labor Day may have come and gone, but pig-roast season continues. Upcoming porcine feasts include:

  • Homestead in West Town will be serving a 100-pound spit-roasted pound Swabian Hall pig from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, with passed appetizers and sides, three Templeton Rye cocktails, sweets from West Town Bakery & Diner and more. Chef John Wayne Formica will baste the pig in coconut and Templeton Rye, roast it over Templeton Rye barrels and serve it with creamy gravy and sweet liverwurst gravy. Tickets are $45.

  • The Southern in Wicker Parkcelebrates Jack Daniels’ birthday with a pig roast starting at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9. The event offers swine and sides, $18; specially priced Jack cocktails; and live music. Advance purchase is recommended, but tickets do not guarantee seating.

  • Lincoln Park’s 2 Sparrows’ family-style pig roast, at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, features Chef Gregory Ellis’s menu including a whole hog from Catalpa Grove, corn fritters, wedge salad, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and peach cobbler, $35. Reservations are required.
