Ed’s throws a ’50s fest

Get out your poodle skirt, pack up the kids this weeekend and head to Ed Debevic’s in River North for the third annual Ed’s Fest, 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. The indoor and outdoor event features 1950s inspired activities from a DJ to games including hula-hoop, a dunk tank and Mitchell’s Ice Cream eating contests. Costumed characters and classic cars will be on display. Food options include root-beer floats and burgers hot off the grill.

Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Through August, Ed’s is also collecting school supplies for for a Back to School Drive in partnership with The Israel Idonije Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to connecting children and families in underserved communities by investing in social and emotional development.
