June pig-outs to savor

Slow Food Chicago presents its fourth annual Pig Roast, 2 to 5 p.m. June 10 at Goose Island’s brewing facility at 1800 West Fulton St.

Goose Island beers and sodas; Templeton Rye cocktails, and Intelligentsia coffee.

Participating chefs include Matt Troost of Three Aces in Little Italy, Matthew Holmes of uncommon ground in Edgewater, Heather Terhune of Sable Kitchen & Bar in River North, Mark Mendez of Vera in West Loop, Jon Dubois of Green Zebra in West Town and Amy Kelsch of La Boulangerie in Logan Square. DJ Jordan Walters will provide the tunes.

If you don’t get your porky fill there, Vie in Western Springs plans a weeklong festival of pig June 11 through 16: The menu offers charcuterie, followed by family-style pork-laced salads, and entrees such as pork belly, porchetta, and braised pork shoulder. The cost is $45 per person, plus optional beverage pairings for $20.
