Greater Midwest Foodways Alliance goes mobile with “Road Food: Exploring the Midwest One Bite at a Time,” its fifth annual symposium, from Friday, April 27, through Sunday, April 29 at Kendall College and assorted Chicago byways.

Keynote speaker Michael Stern, bestselling author of the Roadfood series, will discuss “Will Success Spoil Regional Food?”; a food-truck dinner figures Friday night, while authentic Midwestern dishes from the Springfield, Illinois, horseshoe sandwich to the mysterious Nebraska runza feature on Saturday, along with such speakers as Sun-Times writer Dave Hoekstra on supper clubs and Chicago Public Radio food blogger Louisa Chu on food trucks, with breakfast at Lou Mitchell’s and more on Sunday.

Tickets are $85 for Friday and Saturday; meals and some events are extra.
