Chefs, confectioners, and entertainers to light up the halls of the Merchandise Mart during “For the Love of Chocolate,” a benefit for the French Pastry School’s scholarship program. Sweet and savory bites from Chicago’s best chefs, Venetian Carnival themes with Redmoon Theatre, dancing to DJs, a full chocolate bar, space age concoctions and more. 7 p.m. Feb. 25, $200.

Dolce Casa Cafe in Ravenswood, with Provenance, hosts a four-course Post-Valentine Dinner featuring Vinejoy wine pairings from the Central Coast, and a menu crafted by Chef Ross Outten, including pear and gorgonzola soup; lobster and mango salad; seared duck breast with fig and balsamic glaze; and Black Forest gateau.
