Sparkling holiday events in Chicago

Celebrate the holiday season with a bit of the bubbly. These Chicago restaurants are pouring out the frothy stuff:

  • At 6 p.m. Dec. 8, Niche in Geneva offers a dinner focusing on Duval-Leroy champagnes, including tastings of 1980 vintages. Sommelier Vince Balistreri and guest speaker Arthur Silvente of Duval-Leroy will discuss the taste and terroir of Duval-Leroy Champagnes, and diners may purchase rare bottles not usually available for sale in the U.S. Chef Serena Perdue’s menu centers on butter-poached veal tenderloin, with baby Yukon Golds, Thumbalina carrots, English pea puree and veal jus. The evening is $120.

  • Beginning at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 10, Nia Mediterranean Tapas in the West Loop hosts a tasting of sparkling, cremant, cava and Champagne wines from Italy, Spain and France led by Henry Jansen of Heritage Wine Cellars. Wines and light hors d’oeuvres feature for $50. The wines include:

    • Besserat de Bellefon Brut – Champagne – Epernay, France
    • Domaine Louis Boillot – Burgundy, France
    • Dopff Cremant – Alsace, France
    • Varichon Rose – Loire Valley – Charentes, France
    • Adami Prosecco – Trentino – Alto Adige, Italy
    • Segura Viudas Brut Cava – Penedès, Spain
    • Avinyo Organic Rose Cava – Penedes, Spain
    • Segura Viudas Heredad Reserve Cava – Penedes, Spain
    • Saracco Moscato d’ Asti – Piedmont, Italy
  • From Friday, Dec. 2, through Jan. 2, LM Restaurant in Lincoln Square offers Chef Justin Perdue’s $45, four-course menu featuring cuisine from the Champagne region of France, including fois gras mousse, seared salmon, filet mignon and more. Choose your own wines to accompany for an additional charge.
