65 Chicago places to eat Thanksgiving dinner, 2011

North Side, South Side or in the Chicago suburbs, you don’t have to cook your own Thanksgiving dinner. Chicagoland restaurants offer bountiful holiday feasts.

Call for hours and menu details. Reservations are highly recommended if not required everywhere. Many restaurants also offer complete Thanksgiving dinners for carry out — several days’ notice is typically required.

  1. Allgauer’s Restaurant in Alsip serves a Thanksgiving champagne brunch buffet. $30.95; $24.95 seniors; $16.95 children.

  2. Ann Sather in Andersonville and Lakeview and Ann Sather Cafe in Lakeview serves a traditional Thanksgiving meal with roasted turkey, celery-sage stuffing, soup, pie and all the trimmings. $18.95; $10.95 children.

  3. The Bennett-Curtis House in Grant Park, Ill., serves a traditional turkey dinner from noon to 4 p.m. with ham or roast beef as alternatives. $18.95, $7.95 kids.

  4. Benny’s Chop House in River North features butter-basted organic turkey breast and braised turkey leg with chestnut-stone fruit stuffing, sweet potato, and giblet-sage gravy ($29.99) plus many selections from its regular a la carte menu.

  5. Big Jones in Andersonville offers a Southern-style holiday feast with such entree choices as deep-fried turkey, wood-grilled Slagel Family Farm sirloin, skillet-roasted Carolina wreckfish and autumn vegetable crostada. $46; $20 kids.

  6. Birch River Grill in Arlington Heights serves a four-course dinner based on maple-glazed free-range turkey breast with apple-sausage cornbread stuffing, $26.95; $13.95 kids.

  7. Bistronomic on the Gold Coast serves a four-course French-inspired dinner with such entree choices as roasted farm turkey with chestnut stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, glazed quince or wild mushroom ravioli. $55; $20 children; $10 children 5 and under

  8. Cafe des Architectes on the Gold Coast serves a three-course prix fixe. $60.

  9. Carlucci in Downers Grove serves a three-course menu with such entree choices as balsamic-glazed turkey breast, butternut squash ravioli, day boat cod, spit-roasted duck half and more. $30.95.

  10. Chicago Cut Steakhouse in River North hosts a family-style dinner centered on maple-glazed roasted turkey with cornbread stuffing. $49.95, $25 children.

  11. The Chicago Diner in Northalsted serves a vegan Thanksgiving dinner with entrees such as veggie “turkey,” “beefy” wellington and pumpkin ravioli. $37.99; $22.99 children.

  12. Chicago Firehouse in the South Loop features an all-day Thanksgiving buffet with turkey, prime rib and much more. $45.99, kids $19.99. p>

  13. Chicago q on the Gold Coast offers Thanksgiving dinners built around free-range turkey, smoked in-house. $33.95 for one, $195 for parties of 6 to 9 and $345 for 10 to 14.

  14. Chuck’s Southern Comforts Cafe in Burbank a buffet of smoked turkey, ham, pulled pork, sides and dessert. $18.99; $11.99 children.

  15. Claddagh Irish Pub in Geneva serves a Thanksgiving buffet featuring both breakfast and lunch items, sides, salads, hot carvery and desserts. $22.95.

  16. Coco Pazzo Cafe in Streeterville serves a four-course, traditional Thanksgiving with an Italian twist. Choices include herb-roasted turkey breast or pan-roasted whitefish and all the trimmings. $42.

  17. Custom House Tavern in the South Loop serves a seasonal, a la carte menu, plus a three-course holiday dinner of roast turkey and sides. $46; $16 children.

  18. Courtright’s in Willow Springs offers special holiday menus. Three courses, $50, or four courses, $60.

  19. Deca Restaurant + Bar in Streeterville serves a lavish Thanksgiving brunch. $125; $40 children.

  20. Deleece in Lakeview serves a three-course meal of soup or salad; entree choices including roast beef, slow-cooked Amish turkey, herb-roasted salmon or three-grain salad and braised kale-stuffed acorn squash, plus sides and dessert. $35; $8 kids.

  21. The Drake Hotel in Streeterville offers a variety of Thanksgiving options, ranging from a three-course dinner, $36, to a groaning-board buffet, $110; $40 children.

  22. Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace offers a massive holiday buffet with carving stations serving slow-roasted turkey, roast beef, baked Virginia ham with honey mustard and roast leg of lamb as well as a vast array of sides and other dishes. $30.95; $8–$11.50 children.

  23. Elate in River North serves roasted squash, herb-infused turkey, chestnut stuffing and pumpkin pie. $40; $20 children.

  24. Filini in the Loop serves a three-course dinner including roasted turkey breast, chestnuts, string beans, redskin mashed potatoes with turkey gravy and cranberry orange compote. $45.

  25. Glen Prairie in Glen Ellyn offers a three-course dinner centered on free-range turkey tenderloin and gruyere en croute with cranberry citrus relish, cornbread stuffing, sweet potato hash, green beans almondine, roasted garlic turkey gravy and crispy sage. $29; $14 kids.

  26. Glenwood Oaks in Glenwood offers a roast turkey or ham dinner, noon to 6 p.m., $16.99, $7.99 children.

  27. Great Street Restaurant in the Loop serves a three-course meal with entree choices including parmesan-crusted veal tenderloin, sage-roasted turkey, seared coho salmon or braised rabbit ragu. $45; $25 children.

  28. Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse in River North serves Thanksgiving dinner with an entree choice of turkey or braised pork shank, $27.95–$32.95; $16.95–$21.95 kids. Locations in Lombard and Rosemont offer turkey or prime rib with an all-you-can-eat sides buffet, $30.95–$39.95; $16.95–$18.95 kids.

  29. Horizon Cafe in Lakeview offers a four-course dinner with turkey and trimmings. $18.99.

  30. InterContinental Chicago on the Magnificent Mile offers two mid-day seatings with traditional favorites, such as roast turkey and stuffed pheasant, as well as saddle of venison, cold appetizers, a hot buffet and seafood stations. $85, including tip and one glass of wine; $25 for kids.

  31. Italiasia in River North offers an Italian-Asian-inspired Thanksgiving buffet including roast Amish turkey and more. 24.95, $15.95 children.

  32. Jacky’s on Prairie in Evanston serves a prix fixe featuring clam wild rice chowder, kurobuta pork belly or seasonal salad; entrees including Maine lobster, gnocchi, free-range turkey au jus and braised short ribs; plus panna cotta with spiced plums or chocolate sensation cake and warm tart with frangipane, warm seasonal fruit and vanilla ice cream. Parties of two or more may opt instead for a family-style dinner of free-range turkey au jus, green beans, mandarin salad, sage dressing, brioche-walnut stuffing and brussels sprouts with caramelized pearl onions, smoked bacon and pine nuts plus dessert. $42.

  33. Karma in Mundelein offers a three-course roast turkey breast dinner with sides. $23.95, $11.95 kids.

  34. Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club in Northalsted asks Thanksgiving diners to donate canned goods for the hungry. In exchange, it offers a $15 special of roast sage turkey with green-bean casserole, cornbread stuffing and more, plus half-price drinks.

  35. Lawry’s the Prime Rib in River North serves up roasted prime ribs of beef and fresh roasted turkey carved from its rolling carts, beginning at $30.

  36. Little Bucharest Bistro in Irving Park offers a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with unlimited roast turkey, country ham, cranberry sauce, stuffing, yams, desserts and more. $29.99.

  37. LM Restaurant in Lincoln Square offers a four-course menu of chestnut soup, slow-cooked turkey breast, sweet potato gratin and pumpkin tart. $45.

  38. Lockwood in the Loop presents a bountiful Thanksgiving buffet featuring maple honey molasses roasted turkey and mustard-glazed and clove-studded country ham, among much more. $60; $50 seniors; $25 kids 7–12; free for kids under 6.

  39. Markethouse in Streeterville offers a dinner featuring Maple Blis thyme-mopped Miller Farms young turkey with heirloom-apple brioche stuffing, sides and dessert. $32; $16 kids.

  40. McCormick and Schmick’s in the Loop, Oak Brook, Rosemont , Schaumburg, Skokie and Streeterville offers a traditional three-course turkey dinner, $23.95, $7.95 kids.

  41. Mercat a la Planxa in the Loop hosts offers family-style options centered on turkey with duck confit and foie gras stuffing ($140 for four people) or roast suckling pig ($220 for 6 to 8 people, $440 for 6 to 12). Orders required 48 hours ahead.

  42. Mity Nice on the Magnificent Mile serves a buffet meal withentrees such as oven-roasted turkey, rosemary-crusted prime rib, pineapple-glazed ham, two bite St. Louis baby back ribs and maple-glazed salmon with all the traditional fixings. $40; $16 kids.

  43. Native Foods Cafe in Wicker Park serves a vegan Thanksgiving buffet featuring “Native Wellington” (a meatless twist on beef Wellington) with mushroom gravy, green bean casserole, green salad with maple glazed pecan and pomegranate pearls, polenta butternut squash terrine, wheatberry Waldorf, cornbread with butter, chocolate love pie and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. $24.95; $14.95 kids.

  44. Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel in Streeterville serves a four-course Thanksgiving dinner with one glass of champagne per person and a choice of soft drink/coffee. $48.

  45. Odyssey cruises leave from Navy Pier to offer a buffet of traditional Thanksgiving items and DJ entertainment on Lake Michigan. $24.95—$69.90.

  46. Park Grill in the Loop serves an a la carte menu featuring items such as pumpkin ravioli ($14), barbecue turkey leg ($6), slow-roasted Amish turkey ($25) and sweet potato risotto ($16).

  47. Pensiero in Evanston serves a three-course prix fixe menu with modern Italian and traditional items. $49.

  48. Porkchop in the West Loop serves a three-course menu of Thanksgiving favorites like apple and walnut salad with cranberry vinaigrette, deep-fried turkey with cornbread sausage stuffing, Down South-style green beans with ham and rosemary garlic roasted potatoes. $22.

  49. Prairie Fire in the West Loop and Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook offer traditional roasted turkey and sides, with soup or salad and pecan or pumpkin pie. $45; $15 children.

  50. Ramada Lake Shore Cafe in Hyde Park offers a buffet of traditional favorites and soul food including sliced turkey with cornbread dressing, fried chicken, blackened catfish, braised ox tails and more, $25.95, $12.95 kids.

  51. Rio’s D’Sudamerica in Bucktown will be open with its regular menu.

  52. Rustic House in Lincoln Park offers rotisserie-roasted organic Amish turkey from Peacock Farms in Michigan, with chestnut dressing, candied yams, cranberries and gravy. $26.

  53. Shaw’s Crab House in Schaumburg serves a buffet of traditional Thanksgiving dishes, $45. Kids 12 and younger eat free (two children per paying adult). Groups of five or more can opt instead for a set menu including turkey, beef tenderloin, lobster tails and other seafood and traditional fixings and sides, $39.95 per person, kids free. A Thanksgiving Day donation will be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

  54. Sixteen in River North offers a festive Thanksgiving brunch buffet, $125, $35 for children 8 and younger, and three- to five-course dinner menus, including pheasant breast with sage bread dumpling, , venison loin with venison and foie sausage, or Alaskan halibut with sweet potato and celery root pave, $95 to $125 ($185 with wine pairings).

  55. Smith & Wollensky in River North serves a three-course holiday dinner with herb-roasted turkey and trimmings. $49, $20 kids. Steaks available, too.

  56. SugarToad in Naperville’s serves a three-course Thanksgiving menu. $40.

  57. SushiSamba rio in River North adds mojo-roasted organic turkey with linguica quinoa stuffing and sweet potato home fries ($24) to its regular menu.

  58. Tavern on Rush on the Gold Coast serves a traditional Thanksgiving roast turkey dinner. $39.95; $15.95 children.

  59. Texas de Brazil in River North adds Thanksgiving menu items including roasted turkey with gravy, house-made cranberry sauce and sweet potato casserole to the regular $46.99 Latin American churrascaria line-up.

  60. Tribute in the South Loop features an a la carte Thanksgiving Day menu with such specials as roasted turkey breast, pan gravy, creamy mashed potato, and green beans with bacon ($21) plus the regular menu.

  61. Tuscany in Wheeling offers a Thanksgiving dinner featuring turkey, sides and a slice of pumpkin pie. $24.95.

  62. Vermilion in River North
    offers a five-course Latin-Indian feast of cranberry greens, yucca cake, squash soup, black cardamom turkey and tres leches cake. $55. A vegetarian version is also available.

  63. Weber Grill restaurants in River North, Lombard and Schaumburg in serve a three-course menu built around grill-roasted smoked turkey with cornbread, sausage and sage stuffing. $28.95, $9.95 kids.
