After celebrating its 30th anniversary, Carlos’ Restaurant in Highland Park will close New Year’s Day.

Carlos and Debbie Nieto’s venerable North Shore restaurant will reopen sometime thereafter as a new concept called Nieto’s.

Meanwhile, a variety of events will allow patrons to say farewell to the old Carlos.

  • Throughout November, special menus revive greatest hits from the restaurant’s 30-year history. Half-price specials on select bottles of wine throughout the month. BYOB parties of six- to-eight, can enjoy a custom-paired menu from Chef Ramiro Velasquez ($100 per person).
  • Nov. 7 – Tallgrass guest chefs Bob Burcenski and Tom Alves prepare a four-course meal, $65.
  • Nov. 11 (11/11/11) – Eleven-course meal with eleven desserts, $111.11.
  • Nov. 12 – Champagne dinner to honor Carlos’ 30-year run.
  • Nov. 30 ­– Cooking demo by Chef Ramiro Velasquez, followed by a three-course dinner, $90.
