Octo-beer events in Chicagoland

Four fabulous fall beer tastings:

  1. City Provisions in Ravenswood, 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21. No cover.

    On Oct. 18, City Provisions hosts a release party for Chicago’s Finch’s Beer Co.’s Slackjawed Dunkel, a beer brewed with smoked malt and raw honey from Chef Cleetus Friedman’s own bee hive. On Oct 21, they’ll tap their single keg of Carburetor Rye Bock #58, a double dark rye made by Metropolitan Brewing Company. and aged in a Templeton Rye barrel for eight months.

  2. Hugo’s Frog Bar & Fish House in Naperville, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18. $30; reservations required.

    Samples of Sam Adams Octoberfest, Leinenkugel’s Oktoberfest Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale, Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest, Warsteiner Oktoberfest and Paulaner Oktoberfest pair with seasonal small bites from Chef Jose Sosa, including bratwurst, German potato pancakes and German onion tarts.

  3. Carlucci in Downers Grove, 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. $25.

    The Carlucci Craft Beer Fest offers samples of 20 different beers from seven breweries, a buffet of appetizers, pastas, pizzas and salad and acoustic music by Soda.

  4. The Neo-Futurarium in Andersonville, 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11. $77.97.

    “The Neoccasion: 30 Beers for 60 Minutes,” a fundraiser for the Neo-Futurists theatrical troupe, offers over 30 local and regional craft brews (5 Rabbit, Argus, Finch’s, Goose Island, Half Acre, Hamburgery Mary’s, Haymarket, Metropolitan, New Glarus, Stone, Three Floyds and more), pizza, a 30-minute beer-themed performance and a live auction with brewery tours, home brew-kits and other prizes on tap.
