Food guidebook authors Jane and Michael Stern and the Roadfood.com crew will be coming to Chicago Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29, for a culinary bus tour of our fair city as well as nearby Milwaukee.

In Wisconsin, the Roadfooders will sample kringle, frozen custard, butter burgers and fish fry. The Windy City part of the Eating Tour features an exclusive visit to Hot Doug’s in Avondale, where participants will get to partake of the famous foie gras hot dogs and duck-fat French fries without having to endure the equally famous hour-plus wait in line. They’ll also be indulging in deep-dish pizza, rib tips and other as-yet unrevealed local favorites.

A seat on the bus costs $229, including a couple of meals, but most food and accommodations are pay as you go.
