Show Dad that he taught you some financial savvy this Father’s Day by taking advantage of these freebies.

  1. Free drink. Gear up for Father’s Day at noon Saturday, June 18; with an interactive grilling demonstration at Carnivale in River West. Chef David Dworshak leads the class on the wood-burning grill in the kitchen, showcasing Latin-style dishes including churrasco beef tenderloin and wild salmon. Students get a free Carnivale Bloody Maria beforehand. Reservations are required and the class costs $25.

  2. Free Chinese food. Take Dad and a couple of friends out to Father’s Day dinner at Chens in Wrigleyville or Koi in Evanston and his entree from the Chinese menu is free.

  3. Free golf balls. Treat Dad to a Father’s Day steak at Smith & Wollensky in River North and they’ll throw in a sleeve of special-edition golf balls.

  4. Free steak standwiches. Take Dad out for a round of golf at Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling on Saturday, June 18, or Sunday, June 19, and stay for a free lunch. The club offers a free ribeye steak sandwich to each golfer who reserves a tee time for the Traditions golf course between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Golf prices start at $66.

  5. Free beer. Buy Dad a couple of pints at Timothy O’Toole’s Pub in Streeterville and one of them is free.

  6. Free gift certificate. Shaw’s Crab House in River North and Schaumburg offers all dads brunching or dining on Father’s Day a $25 gift certificate for a future visit.

  7. Free meal. Let your little one take Dad out for some bonding time. All locations of Go Roma offer Dad a free meal on Father’s Day with the purchase of a kid’s meal. Kids under 12 can order items like pizza, chicken strips and potato stix, bowtie pasta with marinara sauce or mac n’ cheese, all served with a cookie and a choice of apple juice, soda or milk for $4.79.

  8. Free Italian entree. Carlucci in Downers Grove offers dads dining with their families a free entree from its selection of under-$20 items such as penne ortolano, rigatoni bolognese, porchetta, gallina allo spiedo and melenzane alla parmigiana.

  9. Free entree. Jerseys Pizza and Grill in Hoffman Estates will feed Dad free with the purchase of another entree.

  10. Free entree. Porter’s Pub in Elgin will also serve Dad a free entree on Father’s Day with the purchase of a second meal.
