Bringing on the big pig

Go high on the hog at Lillie’s Q in Wicker Park with its smoked-hog supper. The big pig meal, $325 for six to eight diners, includes a 25- to 30-pound whole hog smoked for about 10 hours, served with starters and sides plus a presentation and info session by Chef Charlie McKenna, who will bring the whole, fully smoked swine to your table and talk about the hog and the competition-barbecue circuit, before taking it back to the kitchen to be cut up.

Along with the pig, you get hush puppies, fried pickles, coleslaw, baked beans, collard greens, hand-cut french fries and sweet-potato fries and brioche buns for building sandwiches.

Lillie’s Q does not accept regular dinner reservations, but whole-hog dinners must be booked at least 48 hours in advance with a credit card, and cancellations will be charged half price.
