Forget french fries. Our favorite munchie these days is deep-fried green beans. Coated in crumbs or blanketed in batter, and accompanied by a variety of dipping sauces, the crispy green snacks are turning up on menus all over town.

Here are some of the places serving this green snack sensation:

  1. Bad Dog Tavern, Lincoln Square, lightly battered crispy green beans with lime ginger soy dipping sauce.

  2. Bin Wine Cafe, Wicker Park, crispy tempura green beans with citrus aioli.

  3. Chicago Blu, Frankfort, toasted onion-battered green beans.

  4. Hub 51, River North, “three green bites”: edamame, blistered padrone peppers and tempura green beans.

  5. Jack Desmond’s Irish Pub, Chicago Ridge, deep-fried green beans.

  6. Old Oak Tap, West Town, tempura-battered green beans with ginger soy dipping sauce.

  7. The Paramount Room, River West, tempura-fried green beans with spicy lime-chili dipping sauce.

  8. Red Lantern Asian Bistro, Rolling Meadows, crispy green beans with wasabi mayonnaise.

  9. Smokin’ Woody’s, North Center, fried green beans with ranch.

  10. T.G.I. Friday’s, Streeterville and many suburban locations, crispy breaded green bean fries with wasabi ranch.
