12 things to do on the night before Thanksgiving

“Black Wednesday” in Chicago: It’s the night before Thanksgiving. If you aren’t cooking for Thursday’s dinner, why not go out?

  1. Comedian Mike Toomey presents his one-man show, “TV & ME,” a journey back into the land of 1960s and ’70s television at Carlucci in Downers Grove. Tickets are $25 and include a cocktail and an appetizer buffet served from 6 to 7 p.m.

  2. Join DJ Cobra, who revs it up at The Underground in River North.

  3. Chef Neal Harper serves a three-course $20, pre-Thanksgiving prix fixe at Red Canary in River West with such entree choices as chicken pot pie, roasted butternut squash flatbread and a variety of burgers, from 5 to 10 p.m. After dinner, from 10 p.m. to midnight, the “Pilgrim Party Package,” a two-hour open bar, offers unlimited domestic beer offerings, house wines by the glass or cocktails for $20.

  4. Karaoke yourself out at Lottie’s Pub in Bucktown and indulge in $5 turkey legs served with sweet potato tater tots and a side of cranberry, $4 Jameson, $4 Harlem and $3.50 Batch 19.

  5. Country-rock band, Grimm Taylor stomps at The Pony in Lakeview, which also serves up Thanksgiving $5 turkey slider threesomes, $4 Wild Turkey, $3.50 seasonal pints and $4 Don Julio.

  6. Quartino in River North hosts a Black Wednesday Wine Bash, 7 to 9 p.m., $20. The evening includes a wine tasting, discussion and paired menu samples such as pizza, Italian meats and cheeses.

  7. O’Donovan’s Pub and Restaurant in North Center serves Wild Turkey bourbon cocktails for $4, Wild Turkey shots for $3, and shot glasses full of Wild Turkey Balls (maraschino cherries marinated in Wild Turkey) for $1. Soak up the Wild Turkey with Chef Victor DeLeon’s meatloaf, served with mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, and a roll, $6.95.

  8. Bon Jovi tribute band Bad Medicine plays at The Lucky Monk in South Barrington from 5 to 8 p.m. Specials include $3 Miller Lite bottles.

  9. Catch DJ iRock video DJ’ing at Rockit Bar & Grill in River North and enjoy $15 buckets of Bud and $20 buckets of Heineken beginning at 8 p.m.

  10. Three Aces in Little Italy’s “Tryptophan” party offers live psychedelic rock, $2 PBRs and $2 Old Crow whiskey shots and Chef Matt Troost’s food specials, including pumpkin and pancetta soup, turkey zampone, beet and bacon hash and pumpkin doughnuts.

  11. DJ Broadway Streetz spins from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. at Faith & Whiskey in Lincoln Park, while the bar dispenses $5 shots of Wild Turkey in addition to its usual Wednesday drink specials.

  12. Uncle Fatty’s Rum Resort in Lakeview’s “Tank’d-giving Party” features 1990s pop and R&B group The Personnel, ’80s pop cover band the Spazmatics and According to Andrew. Drink 24-ounce yards ($8) or cocktails such as the “caramel apple” ($5) and “dirty turkey” ($5).
