Bargain steakouts for meat lovers in Chicagoland

Three occasions for Chicago-area carnivores:

  • Rosewood Restaurant in Rosemont, celebrating its 20th anniversary, offers a $20 filet mignon dinner from Sunday to Sunday, Oct. 24 through 31. The three-course dinner includes choice of salad, side dish and white chocolate mousse dessert. Reservations suggested.

  • Morton’s – The Steakhouse in Northbrook invites patrons to help the hungry by participating in a food drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3. Drive up and drop off a donation of unexpired, unopened, nonperishable food items and the restaurant will thank you with complimentary hot chocolate and a petit filet mignon sandwich.

  • Fulton’s on the River in River North hosts “Cow-abunga on the River” from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 19. The event offers all the meat you can eat and two seasonal brews from Great Lakes Brewery for just $30. Chef Greg Biggers’ “Around the Cow” menu includes cuts from the chuck (braised short ribs with Henri’s Farm kabocha squash and arugula), rib (smoked Berkshire baby back ribs with bourbon barbecue sauce, short loin (tenderloin sliders with horseradish cream and caramelized onions), sirloin (grilled rare sirloin pretzel crostini with red pepper and smoked pear jam), round (rump roast stew with carrots, local beans, beer and barley), flank (marinated and grilled flank steak with celery root remoulade), plate (mini burgers with Wisconsin white cheddar and breast (mini reuben on grilled rye with house-made dressing.
