Twenty big bacon buffs will be battling it out for the title of top cook at the Chicago Bacon Take Down at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Lincoln Hall in Lincoln Park. The amateur cook’s pig-meat meet is part of a six-city tour.
Tickets, $15, get you in to sample all the contestants and vote. A portion of ticket sales benefits Feeding America.
Last we heard there were still a few openings for competitors, too, so if you’ve got a great bacon recipe, dust it off and e-mail organizer Matt Timms who’ll give you 15 pounds of rashers to work with. Contest entry is free. Cook at home, and bring the prepared food to the event. Winners get a year’s supply of bacon from the event sponsor, Hormel, and other prizes.
