Bagels and bicycles: Christmas on the North Shore

Bagel bike by Leah A. Zeldes

Some people get up on Christmas morning and have hot cocoa and stollen and open presents under the tree. Some go to church. Other people get up that morning and have bagels and lox and maybe go to the movies.

And then there are kooks whose idea of holiday fun is to go dashing through the snow for 10 chilly miles — on bicycles, yet — and then eat lox and bagels. If that’s the kind of thing that puts the star on your Christmas tree, you can join the Chicago Cycling Club for their annual Bagel Ride.

They’ll convene in Evanston at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Dec. 25, and pedal to The Bagel in Skokie for brunch. Oy.
