Rosemont excitement

Rosemont isn’t one of our favorite places, but somehow, between O’Hare and all the hotels and businesses around it, we wind up there pretty often. One of our mainstays has always been Harry Caray’s. Between the pastas, Italian fare, burgers and steaks, there’s something to satisfy everyone, and prices range from $12 for spaghetti and meat sauce to $46 for a prime rib steak.

And while the planes overhead aren’t likely to let you forget where you are, the outdoor patio, with 15 tables along a tree-lined, grassy plot, gets you a small respite from Rosemont’s overwhelming cement atmosphere.

On a few Thursday nights this summer — July 9, Aug. 6 and Sept. 3 — they’ll even have live music. Local band Gypsy plays a mix of acoustic songs from the likes of the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Sheryl Crow and others.

Drink specials feature, too, and if that’s not exciting enough, you can toss bean bags.

It’s the next best thing to the Donald E. Stephens Museum of Hummels.
