UPDATE: Wolfy’s Northbrook opening has been pushed back to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4.
That iconic hot dog skewered by a giant fork has been attracting North Siders to Wolfy’s for decades. To the delight of north suburbanites, the Chicago stalwart plans to open its long-awaited second location in Northbrook on Monday.
The Northbrook location will offer Wolfy’s menu favorites, including the “Famous Polish”; house-made Italian beef; the 1/3-pound fresh burger patty ground from brisket and chuck on a challah bun, topped with Merkts cheddar and grilled onions; and the grilled salami sandwich on french bread.
Mickey Becker founded the original Wolfy’s in 1967. Pete Romas, who took over Wolfy’s in 1999, and Josh Kaplan are behind the new spot, housed in what used to be Ira’s.
