Pintxos (PEEN-chos) are bite-sized nibbles served in the bars of Northern Spain, such as dishes of olives, shrimp-and-egg salad on toast and goat cheese croquetas. In Chicago, you can get ’em at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! in Lincoln Park, where they’re available by the platter for $8.95 or individually for $1.50.
But the real deal is in the bar at happy hour, 4 to 6 p.m. daily, when pintxos are just $1 each, and tapas $3 each. Discounts are reprised Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to midnight.
