Step Up To The Mic For Live Band Karaoke

Bub City

With the crossover appeal of ABC’s hit series “Nashville,” popularity of Taylor Swift and even LL Cool J’s controversial duet with Southern star Brad Paisley, country music is hotter than ever. No wonder Bub City jumped on the twangy trend when it opened late last year.

Rich Melman’s spawn (R.J., Jerrod, Molly) reignited the 1990s Lettuce Entertain You BBQ restaurant for a new generation and teamed up with the country-themed Joe’s Bar for the music component. Country bands perform on a regular basis, but Tuesday is the best night to go for live band karaoke.

Unlike other live band karaoke events around Chicagoland, Bub City’s event comes with backup singers. So, for those looking to channel Carrie Underwood or Clint Black, this is your big shot! If you need a little liquid courage, the bar's stocked with a large selection of bourbons, plus one of the strongest Manhattans in the city. Live band karaoke starts at 10pm every Tuesday. There is no cover.

Here’s where else you’ll find live band karaoke around town:

Roscoe's Tavern

  • Piece: The popular pizza hangout and brewery gets busy with live band action every Saturday at 10pm. The crowd is a good mix of Wicker Park peeps, sports fans and those celebrating something (birthday, bachelorette, etc.), so the energy level is high.
  • Roscoe’s Tavern: The bustling Boystown bar has always been a favorite for hearing the latest boy band, so here’s a chance to pretend like you’re in one. Every Monday at 10pm, live band karaoke happens with most guests picking show tunes, pop classics and ditties from the divas.
  • Stanley’s: This Sunday night party continues to draw lines down the street every week, particularly when Monday’s a holiday. The playlist ranges from hard rock to Motown soul. Celebrities have been known to show up and sometimes get on the stage. From Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman to the entire Blackhawks team, Stanley’s live karaoke night certainly attracts sports royalty. The bar boasts Templeton Rye on tap.
