New York Steakhouses, Perfect Places to Celebrate National Hamburger Day

July 28th is National Hamburger Day, and in New York, we suggest you get your celebratory burger at the same place as you get your favorite steaks: a steakhouse.

New York has some of the world’s finest steakhouses, and the best steakhouses are the best places to find a superior hamburger. It just stands to reason: hamburger is frequently made from scraps of meat trimmed from steaks to make those steaks look pretty when they get to the table. Looks don’t matter as much when you’re taking those delicious trimmings, putting them through a grinder, and shaping them into hamburgers made from the finest cuts of USDA prime beef.

Here are five of New York’s best steakhouses, all places where you can be sure to find the very best hamburgers and celebrate National Hamburger Day in delicious style.

Charlie Palmer Steak

Charlie Palmer Steak. In the Archer Hotel, Charlie Palmer Steak is a perfect place to drop in for a steak or, on July 28, a delicious hamburger.  With cheddar and red onion, the CP Burger is made of USDA prime beef, dry-aged with the same care and attention to detail that you’d expect of all the other fine pieces of aged meat on the menu. Feel like something a little different? Try the lamb burger: lush and juicy, the perfect pairing with a hearty red wine from Charlie Palmer Steak’s wine cellar.

Gallagher’s Steakhouse. A New York classic, Gallagher’s Steakhouse has long been the place to go for a fantastic steak…and an equally fantastic hamburger. At a place like Gallagher’s Steakhouse, you can expect the humble burger will be elevated to great heights; here, the Prime Beef Burger is ten ounces of prime beef, caramelized onion and Vermont cheddar, strewn with smoked bacon. And, yes, you do get fries with that; nice.

Quality Meats.  At Quality Meats, you will receive a truly superior burger, but let’s face it, sometimes you feel a little, um, “down-market” when all your buddies are getting big steaks and you’re getting a humble burger. Level the playing field by accompanying your undeniably excellent QM Burger with a rare selection from Quality Meat’s 350-bottle wine cellar. To pair with your perfect burger, we suggest a half-bottle of Mouton Rothschild First Growth Bordeaux or just a glass of Quilt 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa. You will be very glad you did.

Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse. A steakhouse called Uncle Jack’s has got to be the kind of place where you can get a good hamburger, and the hamburger you get at Uncle Jack’s is probably the most extravagant you will find anywhere. The Big Jack Burger is a custom blend of WJD prime beef, maple pepper bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar fondue and…secret sauce. This is a hamburger you will never forget.

Delmonico’s. Delmonico’s, one of the world’s premier steakhouses, also serves one of the world’s premier hamburgers. Called the “Classic Burger,” it comes with options like four kinds of cheeses – cheddar, American, mozzarella and Swiss – as well as wild mushrooms, caramelized onions and bacon. Feeling extra fancy? Get a serving of foie gras butter on top. Delmonico’s is just one of the many fine steakhouses in New York where you will find the best hamburgers to eat while celebrating National Hamburger Day on July 28th.
