Jessica Murnane knows the way to our hearts is paved with cookie dough. But rather than clog our hearts with treacly confections, she's teaching us to enjoy cookies from a fresh new perspective. The founder of One Part Plant releases her first e-cookbook, one studded with more than 50 pages of cookie recipes derived from industry pros scuh as Sandra Holl of Floriole Cafe & Bakery and Molly Marzalek-Kelly of Baked in New York City. There's a recipe for every month, each one dairy-, gluten-, and refined sugar-free, so you can have your cake (cookie) and eat it too! Order yours here.

Smoked onion marmalade
(Best in show)

Just this week, Southport Grocery & Cafe received a Good Food Award for their smoked onion marmalade. If this were the Academy Awards, the smoked onion marmalade would have just won best actor/actress. Owner Lisa Santos was in attendance at the ceremony in San Francisco to receive the honor, doled out by an organization that praises American food producers and farmers who provide the ingredients. There are only 10 winners in each category each year, and this year only two businesses from Illinois received awards. So you know, prestige. The award-worthy marmalade features smoked Vidalia onions and red onions, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, white balsamic vinegar, honey, and salt, a masterful combination that makes it a kitchen keystone. Last year, Southport won a Good Food Award for their "Dilly Beans," so they're on quite the spree.
