Summertime Specials at Chicago’s Best Steakhouses

Okay, we get it: steak may not be the first thing you think of on a steamy summer night…but why not? Even if you’re not in the mood for red meat, which is hard to imagine, many of Chicago’s best steakhouses offer some of Chicago’s best fish dishes. There are even a few summertime specials that will make a steakhouse on a summer day seem like the best idea ever.

Here are five of Chicago’s best steakhouses, each offering specials that are especially attractive when it’s a hot time in the city.

STK

STK. For as little as $49.95 per person per hour, STK offers Summer Vibe’ing packages that include beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages as well as special menus. The Summer Vibes Dinner Party menu includes items like little burgers and calamari, salad, chicken or wagyu steak, and Yukon potatoes. The Ultimate Summer Dinner Party promises two hours of bar service, plus Caesar salad and truffle risotto. Any of these options are guaranteed to make for a summer evening you, your friends and maybe clients will like likely never forget.

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. The folks at nationally famous Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse proclaims, “Your favorite summertime pairing is here.” What they’re talking about is a glass (or two) of rosé wine and a filet, the wine lightweight and refreshing, the delicious filet filling but not too heavy, full of flavor and satisfying. Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse also offers a range of Summer Classic dishes, including their most excellent steak as well as heirloom tomatoes, strawberries and other Midwestern seasonal offerings.

Prime & Provisions. “Thirsty for summer?” asks Michigan Avenue Magazine. If you are indeed thirsty, the magazine suggests that you go to Prime & Provisions, with not only some of the best steaks in Chicago but also a beautiful collection of wines to complement the prime beet and cool down your summer night. Specifically, Michigan Avenue “recommends the crisp and acidic assyrtiko from Domaine Sigalas,” which will pair nicely with a juicy yet light fish filet, just right on a summer evening.

About Last Knife. Whether you’re there for the primo people watching, or for a contemplative glass of wine overlooking Millennium Park, About Last Knife is the place to go for a summer sip and maybe supper. The full menu is served on the About Last Knife patio, and we recommend one of the large format selections, like the St. Germain Spritz, bubbly with lovely notes of lavender, just right for a summer afternoon.

III Forks

III Forks. With a stunning selection of steak and seafood, III Forks on Chicago’s North Side stands out as a premier example of why the best places for steak are almost always also the best places for seafood. Atlantic salmon, Chilean seabass, scallops wrapped in smoked bacon or a mammoth lobster tail, all that deliciousness is to be had at III Forks and they will all taste a little better on a summer night. The icing on the cake is that at III Forks, you can enjoy your meal on a beautiful patio, above the din of traffic, overlooking the vibrant River North area of Chicago – you’ll be on vacation without ever leaving home. Happy summer!
