Best Chicago Restaurants for Father's Day

Buy Father’s Day gifts for dad is never easy. One thing we know dads will appreciate, however, is a good bite to eat. So, on Father’s Day – June 16th – why don’t you bring dad to one of Chicago’s best restaurants?

Chicago is fortunate to have a huge range of restaurants, Chinese, French, Malaysian and Mexican, meat-centric and vegan, the whole spectrum of food types is here to be had. And he’s going to love it.

Here are seven restaurants, some of Chicago’s best, perfect for Father’s Day and some even offering special deals for you and dad.

Dos Urban Cantina

Dos Urban Cantina. For Father’s Day, Dos Urban Cantina will be offering a brunch buffet from 10am to 2pm for a modest $28 per person. There will be many familiar and delicious Mexican dishes, including tacos, and guacamole. Kids eat for free (that means little kids, not adult children!).

Daisies. The newly renovated patio at Daisies will be open for Father’s Day. He’s going to love the Imbibe Option cocktail flight, four smaller cocktails, each with a different produce component (like beet, celery or orange). In addition to being veg-centric (though not exclusively: there’s lots of meat options, too), Daisies also offers a range of pastas and some very creative takes on traditional favorites, like fried mushrooms and cheese curds, agnolotti with trout roe, and asparagus toast (take that, avocado!).

Cabana Club. Cabana Club, the rooftop bar at The Robey, will be open all day, and there’s a pool, so kids can splash about while dad does “research” on a few cocktails. There will be games, like a giant connect the dots, along with spectacular views of the city. If you get hungry, you can drop downstairs to The Robey.

River Roast.  If your dad is like most dads (we know, we know, he’s the greatest, the one-and-only, but still…), he likes barbecue. River Roast offers some of the very best smoked protein in the city – chicken, beef and fish – as well as magnificent views along the Chicago River. The bar prepares magnificent Manhattans, if dad is into that, and there’s a sizeable wine cellar.

Booth One

Machine. Machine. Sounds like a place your dad would like, right? This newer restaurant will be offering a creative brunch for Father’s Day. In addition to some “engineered” cocktails, there are innovative menu items like pork croquettes and an al pastor portabella sandwich, as well as more traditional favorites like Brussels sprouts with short rib. There’s also a circulating flower cart, so if your dad’s in touch with his feminine side, you can get him a bouquet for the day.

Funkenhausen. Funkenhausen, the West Side Chicago restaurant that fuses the cuisines of Germany and the American South, is now doing brunch. For Father’s Day, there are some hearty options, like schnitzel and grits, spaetzle carbonara, and steak and eggs. You can be sure that there will be many things on the menu that that will make dad happy.
