Celebrate National Steakhouse Month Chicago-style

As summer ramps up, things tend to get lost in the shuffle in terms of seasonal dishes, restaurant promos and so forth. But you’d be remiss not to prioritize the fact that June just so happens to be National Steakhouse Month. Considering Chicago is the veritable steakhouse capital of the country, that makes the month-long spree a particularly prominent occurrence around these parts. Not only is Chicago filled with top-tier steakhouses befitting a celebratory meal, but there are a few steakhouses in particular that are celebrating the occasion in style with promos of their own. Here are three ways to partake in National Steakhouse Month in Chicago:

Gene & Georgetti: When it comes to indulging in National Steakhouse Month, the best way to do so is by re-visiting the city’s oldest — and most classic — steakhouse. Gene & Georgetti is honoring the occasion with a steak special running all month-long, wherein a USDA Prime dry-aged long bone tomahawk rib-eye will be sold for $115. Clocking in at a whopping 32 ounces, the cut is ideal for sharing and designed for dates. To pair, the restaurant suggests the Paraduxx, a red blend from Napa Valley available both by the glass and the bottle.

Michael Jordan’s Steak House: In honor of Steakhouse Month, this Magnificent Mile mainstay is pulling out the big guns. The “VIP Captain’s List” is on deck for the month of June, consisting of exceedingly rare and coveted cuts of meat, meticulously chosen and prepared by chef Craig Couper. The limited-time menu supplement contains prized portions like a 36-oz. tomahawk long bone that’s been dry-aged for 45 days; 16-oz. American Wagyu; and four succulent ounces of meltingly tender A5 Kobe beef. There’s also a chef’s beef tasting, consisting of a bone-in filet, American Wagyu sirloin, angus rib-eye and grass-fed plains-raised rib-eye; and something called the elite beef tasting, with A5 Kobe, sliced rib-eye cap, Ameircan Wagyu strip loin and bone-in filet.

STK: For something a bit more immersive and full-fledged this month, you can’t beat the specials being served at STK. All month long, this stylized steakhouse will be offering a special three-course prix fixe with whiskey pairings. Guests select one dish per course, with appetizers including Nueske’s smoked bacon with maple-balsamic glaze and pickled chilies; and the famous “Lil’ Brgs.” Entrees include a dry-aged bone-in strip steak, dry-aged Delmonico and roasted half chicken, served with optional sides like mac & cheese, sweet corn pudding and foraged mushrooms. For desserts, there’s warm whiskey-soaked banana bread pudding with salted caramel ice cream and maple-bourbon drizzle. The cost is $115 per person for the food, plus $55 for optional whiskey pairings with each course.
