Weekly Planner: The Return of Streeterville Social and Sushi-san Rolls Out Lunch

Streeterville Social Reopens for the Season

One of the city’s biggest — and best — rooftop patios is back in action for the season, as the Loews Hotel Chicago reopens Streeterville Social. With massive space boasts sweeping city views and a lush, backyard-like ambience. The rooftop’s eatery, The Bistro, boasts a menu of snacks and drinks that sing of summer, complete with leisurely lounge seating and tables for more formal dining. This year, look forward to a new menu by chef Kevin Atkinson, who has crafted a lineup of dishes like clam stuffies filled with whipped mortadella, Wonder Bread and celery; chicken-fried mushrooms with black bean barbecue and green garlic aïoli; burnt ends flatbread with pimento cheese and red onions; sugar cane lamb skewers with grilled naan, cucumber and sumac creme; and blackened fish tacos with Great Lakes walleye, cabbage slaw and grilled pineapple vinaigrette. Also new this year is weekend brunch service, available from noon until 3:00 p.m., with dishes like rhubarb strudel, avocado toast, smoked salmon flatbread, and wild rice pancakes with marinated peaches and nasturtiums. To drink, Streeterville Social is featuring $5 featured rosé by the glass on Wednesdays, and the bar is stocked with “adult freezer pops” all summer long, in assorted flavors. Cocktail-wise, get thirsty for drinks like the Ferris Muler with vodka, blueberry, lime and ginger beer, or That’s Rummy, with rum, Campari, pineapple, lime and simple syrup.

Sushi-san Rolls Out Lunch

Lunch in River North just got a lot more interesting, with the onset of midday service from newcomer Sushi-san. The hot spot specializes in two fixed-price lunch specials, in addition to the full regular menu of course. These include the express lunch #1, a build-your-own-meal option that allows guests to opt for tuna trio or maki roll and the protein of choice for a rice bowl, all served with miso soup and “salad-san.” Then there’s the “Oh-My-Kaze,” a $22 bargain that consists of a trio of salmon, hamachi and tuna in three different forms: three pieces of salmon, three pieces of nigiri and six pieces of maki.

All-You-Can-Eat Oysters at Heritage Restaurant & Caviar Bar

Speaking of bargains, it doesn’t get any better than all-you-can-eat oysters, and Heritage Restaurant & Caviar Bar satisfies those nautical cravings with its brand new Monday promo. The Humboldt Park destination has introduced industry nights on Mondays, as well as an impressive oyster special for $27.99. All day/night long, guests can slurp to their heart’s content.

Unlimited Crab Legs and Burgers at Oyster Bah

For an all-you-can-eat bargain that’s even beefier, head to Oyster Bah’s subterranean Low Tide Lounge on Thursday nights for a feast of crab legs and prime burgers. Each week, the restaurant offers unlimited Alaskan king crab and prime burgers for just $54.95. For that price, the kitchen will continue to bring out crab and burgers until you tell them to stop. Those burgers are pretty incredible, made with 8-oz. beef patties, Roquefort cheese, crispy onions and Dijonnaise. Wash it all down with an Aviation Slushie, which just so happens to only be available on Thursday nights downstairs.
