Weekly Planner: Bottomless Brunch Cocktails, New Year's Dim Sum, Late-night Snacks and More

Bottomless Brunch Cocktails at Barrio

After recently launching weekend brunch, Barrio is amping things up even further with bottomless brunch cocktails. This makes the modern Mexican hot spot the only restaurant in River North to offer bottomless mimosas, Bloody Marys and Bloody Marias, for $22. And considering brunch is served from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., it’s all too easy (and tempting) to make a day of it. Options include blood orange mimosas, Bloody Marys made with Tito’s vodka or Bloody Marias made with Hornitos tequila. For those going booze-free, there’s also fresh juices like the beet-based Amarillo and the carrot-based Naranja.

New Year’s Day Brunch at Bistronomic

As late-night revelers wake up in the new year, the occasion calls for a hangover-soothing brunch filled with cozy comforts. Such things can be found at Bistronomic, which is serving  a $25 two-course New Year’s Day brunch with menu options like a croque madame made with Nueske’s ham, Gruyere cheese, mornay sauce, a farm egg and hand-cut french fries.

New Year’s Dim Sum at Imperial Lamian

If dumplings are more your hangover cure of choice, head to Imperial Lamian, which is dishing up dim sum to beckon in the new year in style. Served from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., dim sum options include pumpkin puffs, xiao long bao, crispy wontons and more. There’s also some special holiday items, like PEI mussels and cumin-scented dorade.

State and Lake Chicago Tavern Launches Late-Night

Speaking of late-night revelry, State and Lake Chicago Tavern is your new destination for those twilight cravings. The Loop restaurant is the latest spot downtown to help shift the neighborhood’s stereotypical reputation as a nightlife wasteland, introducing a menu of unique eats served from 11:00 p.m. through 2:00 a.m. Ideal for those looking to dine after a show at a nearby theater, chef Nathan Sears curates a menu of affordable snacks all priced under $9. These include chili fries, Welsh rarebit toast, diner-style burgers with fry sauce, smoked sausages and crispy pork rinds, to name just a few highlights. It’s definitely worth staying up late for.
