Make it a Meaty Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a big deal. Not only for the obvious fact that it’s important to show your mom how much you love her, but it’s pretty much the Super Bowl of brunch. As the biggest dining holidays of the year, it's pivotal you get Mother's Day right. Fortunately, you can't walk one block without hitting a Mother's Day brunch menu in Chicago. But since the task of finding that sweet spot can be massively overwhelming in Chicago, we’ve curated a roundup of some surefire hits.

Prime & Provisions
Prime & Provisions

III Forks Prime Steakhouse: This Mother’s Day, eschew the traditional brunch buffet spread for something a little more lavish. Mom deserves it, right? III Forks Prime Steakhouse is serving a special three-course menu all day long, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in honor of mothers everywhere. Courtesy of chef Cedric Harden, the menu begins with first course choices of the III Forks house salad or a steakhouse wedge salad. For entrees, choose from pan-seared red snapper, coffee- and coriander-rubbed tenderloin, and fire-roasted red pepper chicken. Last, there’s Texas pecan cake and chocolate mousse for dessert selections. The cost for the prix fixe is $48 per person, and III Forks also has a special kids’ version for $18.

Prime & Provisions: This Loop steakhouse knows a thing or two about opulence. And if ever there was a time to go opulent, Mother’s Day is it. For the holiday, the steakhouse is preparing a lavish all-you-can-eat brunch from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Items include eggs Benedict, crispy breakfast potatoes, house-flared bacon, omelets, raw bar, chopped salad, glazed ham, chicken Vesuvio, smoked mustard-glazed salmon, prime rib and lots more. The cost is $65 per adult and $25 for children.

Ruxbin: If ever there was an occasion for Ruxbin to serve brunch for the first time ever, it’s Mother’s Day. This exclusive one-time brunch is a fancy four-course affair that’s certain to delight any foodie moms out there, with dishes like potato latkes with coffee-spiced apples, white chocolate saffron and aerated foie gras-pork belly hash; a wedge salad with green goddess dressing, flowers, vegetable ash, and king crab; eggs Benedict with halibut, manila clam hollandaise, shishito pesto, white asparagus, and brioche pain perdu; and Japanese pancakes with fresh berries, keffir and oxalis. Brunch is offered between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and costs $75 per person. There will also be mimosas and Bloody Marys available as well, and the restaurant will remain BYOB.

TWO: Brunch is back at TWO, just in time to delight all the moms out there. With chef Kevin Cuddihee at the helm, the Sunday affair features an array of a la carte comfort food classics, elevated to meet the style that’s made this West Town restaurant such a sensation. Dishes to look forward to include housemade bagels with sockeye salmon, ramp cream cheese, wild onions and green tomato relish; maple-glazed pork belly with confit potatoes, fried duck egg and rye crumpets; chilaquiles with suckling pig, avocado mouse, tomatillo salsa and soft-poached egg; and double cheeseburgers with butterkase cheese, pickles, bacon jam and mustard aioli. To drink, beverage director Graham Crowe is shaking up a brunch cocktail menu with drinks like the Burnt Sienna, which has turmeric-infused vodka, mezcal, orange, passion fruit and agave. Brunch is served from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Gene & Georgetti Rosemont: Go all out this Mother’s Day with a visit to Gene & Georgetti’s Rosemont location, where lavish brunch dining awaits. Hosted at The Estate by Gene & Georgetti, the upscale events space, brunch begins at 11:00 a.m. with seating available every half hour until 4:00 p.m. Pretty much everything imaginable is on hand for the occasion, including complimentary mimosas, French toast, frittata, eggs Benedict, a carving station with prime rib, ham and turkey, antipasto, chicken alla Joe, sausage, meatballs, seafood, pasta, a dessert station and even a kids’ section with mac & cheese, chicken fingers, mini hot dogs and waffle fries. The cost for this family-friendly feast is $46 for adults and $19 for kids 11 and younger.

Geja’s Cafe: This fondue-centric Lincoln Park classic is most renowned as a romantic institution popular on Valentine’s Day, but this year it’s an essential stopover for Mother’s Day. The restaurant is offering all moms complimentary 5-minute massages and a glass of bubbly on May 14. Anytime after the restaurant opens at 1:00 p.m., moms will be whisked away into a private, relaxing area for the massage by therapists from Lincoln Park Massage.

Brindille: If there’s ever an opportunity to indulge in afternoon tea at this lovely, elegant River North gem, you need to take it. And you need to take your mom with you. In honor of Mother’s Day, Brindille is bringing back its Parisian-inspired tea service for May 12 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
