Weekly Planner: Birthday Cookies at Scofflaw, Donut Collaboration, Forbidden Root Anniversary and More

Birthday Cookie Takeover at Scofflaw

Birthday cake? Pfft. Scofflaw celebrates its fifth birthday in style, inviting pastry chefs from near and far to create custom birthday cookies for a weeks-long spree leading up to the bar’s birthday on March 12. One day each week, the bar will serve cookies at midnight and during Sunday brunch at noon. This week’s offering is a corn marshmallow cookie courtesy of Amanda Rockman from Austin’s South Congress Hotel.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Beer Dinner at Headquarters Beercade

It’s not every day a beer dinner draws inspiration from an adult cartoon. But Headquarters Beercade is not your every day bar, either. The River North spot is hosting an Aqua Teen Hunger Force beer dinner on February 19, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. (more of a late lunch, really). Each course is inspired by characters from the show, paired with beers from Revolution Brewing. These include The Frylock, a plate of butter and garlic fries; I Wanna Rock Your Body Wings, which are beer-can chicken wings smoked with a lager and served with white BBQ sauce; a pork and ginger meatballs called The Meatwad, served in a steam bun with “bang” sauce and daikon slaw; and The Master Shake for dessert, a vanilla bean and bourbon stout shake. The cost is $42 per person and tickets can be reserved here.

LYFE Kitchen and Firecakes Collaboration Donut

Comfort food gets healthy (kinda) thanks to a new collaboration between LYFE Kitchen and Firecakes. The River North neighbors have teamed up to create a vegan and gluten-free coconut chocolate chia donut, inspired by LYFE’s popular chocolate budino dessert. It’s actually a baked donut, but moist and rich enough to still taste like fried cake. It’s topped with a light chocolate mousse and toasted coconut flakes, available all month long at all LYFE Kitchen locations and Firecakes.

African American Winemakers Dinner at The Promontory

In honor of Black History Month, The Promontory has a pretty great wine event on the docket. The Hyde Park restaurant is celebrating African American winemakers at their four-course wine dinner taking place February 21, orchestrated by 57th Street Wines sommelier Derrick Westbrook and The Promontory’s chef Andrew Graves. The cost is $75 per person for the wine-paired tasting menu. Call the restaurant for details and reservations.
