Weekly Planner: Fashion Tea, Black Wednesday Cocktails, "Drinksgiving" and More

Christkindlmarket Specials at Bohemian House

Hot on the heels of Thanksgiving comes one of Chicago’s most iconic holiday season pastimes: Christkindlmarket. The German market and festival, taking place at Daley Plaza through Christmas Eve, is filled with wholesome food, trinkets, gifts, and drinks, and Bohemian House is getting in on the celebration by tapping into its European roots. Guests who attend Christkindlmarket from November 18 through December 23 are invited to bring their souvenir mug to Bohemian House and have it refilled with their beer of choice with the purchase of a food item. In addition, chef Rod Sidor has cooked up a variety of new seasonally inspired dishes, like bacon-wrapped beef with horseradish tea and the tarta Cytrynowa, a Polish citrus tart with pistachio cream, toasted meringue, honey tuile and candied viola flower.

Fashion Tea at Brindille

There’s no horseradish tea, but Brindille’s revered “Fashion Tea” is underway November 19. Collaborating with designer Samantha Sleeper and her recently launched Swan Bridesmaid, Brindille will feature custom hand-painted gowns just for this event, while chef Carrie Nahabedian and pastry chef Craig Harzewski will create a spread of savory and sweet bites. The fall tea party takes place from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on November 19 and costs $60 per person. Reservations can be made by emailing info@brindille-chicago.com.

Black Wednesday Drinks at Saint Lou’s Assembly and MONEYGUN

Thanksgiving requires a bit of drinking, let’s be honest. Get in the spirit of things, pun intended, with some all-black cocktail specials at Saint Lou’s Assembly and MONEYGUN on Black Wednesday, November 23. The pre-Thanksgiving party will consist of legit black cocktails for $8 apiece, a DJ, and a fire pit on the patio. It all starts at 5:00 p.m.

Nightly Entertainment at Bordel

In other ongoing event news, Bordel just released its new seasonal lineup of weeknight happenings for the rest of fall. This includes “Blind Tiger Tuesdays,” which is industry night and 25% off entire bills from 9:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. for bar pros. “Speakeasy Wednesdays” celebrates local jazz talent every week, along with beer and bourbon specials all night long. “Vaudeville Thursdays” is the handiwork of Sally Marvel and AJ Le Sac, featuring burlesque, magic and sideshow acts. Then Sally Marvel is back again for “Burlesque Fridays” with late-night entertainment and cocktails aplenty.

Drinksgiving at Headquarters Beercade

Another great option for Black Wednesday festivities can be found at Headquarters Beercade. The River North bastion for food, booze and fun is hosting “Drinksgiving” this year, which is a special boozy dinner in partnership with Avery Brewing. Taking place from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. November 23, the beer-paired meal includes items like house-smoked turkey breast roulade, pumpkin soup, and a dessert-y sweet potato poutine with pumpkin spice, and charred marshmallow fluff. The cost is $35 per person.
