Brunch Bites: Santa Edition

For this week's batch of brunch bites, we've rounded up Chicagoland restaurants hosting Santa for special brunch events this holiday season. Wrangle the family and pay a visit to one of these festive destinations:

Shaw's Crab House

Shaw's Crab House in Schaumburg is a family-friendly crowd-pleaser anytime of year, but come December 20, it will be especially inviting for children as Santa arrives for brunch. He and the Mrs. will both be in attendance as special guests from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., when they'll be on hand for family photo opps. In between lap visits, kids can fill up at the Shaw's brunch buffet, which features shellfish and seafood stations, traditional breakfast items, and a sweets table. There's also a build-your-own hot chocolate bar with customizable toppings, along with a variety of homemade Christmas cookies. The brunch is priced at $52 for adults and free for kids 12 and younger.

Santa has a craving for Latin fusion, and he's settling in at Carnivale on December 13. The jolly one will take up residence for the afternoon from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., during which time he'll be available for complimentary photos with kids and adults alike. In addition to the regular brunch menu, Carnivale will offer a special children's menu for the occasion with chicken fingers, grilled cheese, cheeseburgers, pancakes, brioche French toast, and the "Little American," which contains two eggs, house bacon, tater tots, and sourdough toast.

Santa loves stuffed French toast and silver dollar pancakes, which is probably why he'll be paying a visit to Tavern on Rush on December 13. From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., he'll be in attendance as kids take turns visiting and taking photos. In addition to Tavern's brunch staples, there will also be a special children's menu filled with dishes like those aforementioned pancakes, French toast sticks, cheesy scrambled eggs, cheese pizza,  chicken fingers, mini burgers, and mac & cheese.

Sister restaurants Remington's and The Windsor are sharing Santa duty this year, splitting visits from the North Pole denizen over two consecutive weekends in December. First up is Remington's on December 13, followed by The Windsor on December 20. Both days, he'll be in attendance from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., available for free photos, and kids are encouraged to give Santa their wish lists. The restaurants will be outfitted with lavish Christmas decor, along with special brunch buffets outfitted with the likes of gooey monkey bread, rotisserie pork hash, and crab Benedict.
