BOKA Hosts Gramercy Tavern's Michael Anthony

Well, this is a huge deal. New York City's acclaimed Gramercy Tavern is landing in Chicago for a night, as chef/partner Michael Anthony cooks alongside BOKA's Lee Wolen for a special dinner showcasing his new cookbook, V is for Vegetables. The can't-miss event takes place December 2, wherein the two talents team up for a five-course vegetable-centric meal with optional wine pairings. For $85 per person, guests get a copy of the book, as well as the degustation, which includes dishes like salted hakurei turnips with lemon confit, daikon kinpira and rib-eye with chimichurri. Wine is an additional $35. Call BOKA to make reservations.

Chicago Chefs Cook for France

Wood takes the reins on an important altruistic dining event in support of the people of France. In the wake of terrorist attacks overseas, the Lakeview restaurant is bringing together chefs from across the city to cook for a good cause, sending proceeds from the dinner to Secours Populaire Francaise. The evening will features bites prepared by Wood's own Ashlee Aubin, along with the likes of Matt Kearney (Longman & Eagle), Jimmy Papadopoulos (Bohemian House), Nicole Pederson (Found), Tim Graham (Travelle), and others. There will also be a cash bar featuring French-inspired cocktails from Wood, Longman & Eagle, Sportsman's Club, and others. The cost to attend is $50 per person, which includes one drink ticket. 100% of proceeds are donated to Secours Populaire Francaise. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and tickets can be purchased here

Sliders, Staches, & Suds at South Water Kitchen

As November comes to a close, so too does "Movember," the annual month-long event designed to raise awareness and funds for men's health. In honor of the occasion, South Water Kitchen is capping off Movember with a special "Sliders, Staches & Suds" patio party from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Rain, snow, or shine, freezing temps or otherwise, the al fresco event will include complimentary pulled pork sliders, draft beer, and mustaches aplenty. A suggested donation of $10 will go to the Movember Foundation, and it's just $3 for each additional draft beer. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the restaurant, and in order to participate in the gratis event, guests must dine outside. Bundle up for a good cause.

Grab & Go Breakfast Burros at Dove's Luncheonette

Your morning commute just got a whole lot more delicious. Dove's Luncheonette is now offering grab & go burros (similar to burritos) and honor system coffee courtesy of Dark Matter (aww). The burros are available in two varieties: carnitas with tomato-serrano salsa and diced white onions or hongos with button mushrooms, chipotle salsa, Chihuahua cheese, and epazote. The coffee is serve-yourself, and folks are encouraged to drop a dollar as they go. The morning goods are available Monday-Friday at 9:00 a.m.
