In this week's batch of brunch bites, C Chicago brings the glam to the weekend ritual and Bernie's Lunch & Supper gives brunch a Mediterranean accent.

Brunch gets ritzy at C Chicago. The high-end seafood-oriented restaurant in River North is the latest to hop aboard the brunch bandwagon, rolling out a weekend menu filled with lavish touches like caviar and Champagne. In fact, the brunch menu is called "Caviar and Champagne," in case there was any doubt that this thing was upscale. While the fare may be upscale, the price is actually affordable for the prix fixe-style menu, at $18 per person. For this, diners start with a melon and Verbena shooter with Champagne, followed by egg with caviar and Champagne foam, and a choice of entree, with options like lobster scramble vol au vent; shrimp and grits with lobster demi; avocado toast with peach jam and pepitas; and cured salmon with heirloom tomatoes and housemade creme fraiche. Petit fours conclude the meal, and C Chicago offers numerous Champagnes prime for pairing at supplemental prices. Brunch is served from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on weekends.

Elsewhere in River North, newly opened Bernie's Lunch & Supper has rolled out a new brunch program hinged on its Mediterranean roots. Unique to Chicago, the Mediterranean-inspired affair gives weekend comfort food a distinct style. Smaller plates to start include lox with warm pita, parsley-sumac salad, and caper goat cheese; and roasted oysters with chorizo butter and potato shoestrings. Larger plates include eggs Benedict with coppa ham and sauce bearnaise; shrimp and grits with Cajun butter; and breakfast pizza topped with whipped ricotta, fried egg, roasted mushrooms, pomodoro, arugula, and Serrano ham. Brunch at Bernie's is served Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
