Brunch Bites: The Hampton Social and Rockit Bar & Grill

In this week's batch of brunch bites, River North gets new weekend options from The Hampton Social and Rockit Bar & Grill

First up, newcomer The Hampton Social embraces its coastal inspirations for a beachy, sunny selection of dishes and drinks on its newly implemented brunch menu. Available Sundays from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. (Saturday brunch plans are in the offing), the menu is an homage to brunch classics with an East Coast accent. Expect items like Belgium waffles with milk chocolate filling and seasonal compote; breakfast quinoa bowls with avocado, arugula, roasted mushrooms, grilled onions, tomatoes, feta, and fried egg; and the LBLT, an open-faced lobster BLT on multi-grain toast with avocado and a fried egg. To drink, the beverage program goes beyond the standard Bloody Mary with a.m. cocktails like The Cure, made with Pimm's #1, Ford's gin, Amaro Nonino, lime juice, angostura bitters, simple syrup, muddled cucumber, and a ginger beer float; and the Southampton Smash featuring gin, Luxardo Aperitif, lemon juice, simple syrup, homemade limoncello, muddled blueberry, basil, and soda water. 

While The Hampton Social is brand new, a River North mainstay has updated its menus to offer some new brunch options for diners. The new dishes at Rockit Bar & Grill are a mix of old Rockit fan-favorites and new innovations courtesy of Amanda Downing and Kevin Hickey. These include strawberry shortcake waffles with market strawberries and whipped cream; cinnamon raisin grilled cheese with Brie, apples, and greens; the Thai Cobb salad with green curry chicken, sweet peppers, carrots, bean sprouts, snap peas, and coconut-peanut vinaigrette; and mango curry wings with cucumbers and coconut ranch.
