Weekend Planner: Parson's Patio, Mother's Day Brunch, Cookie Class

Parson's Patio Reopens for the Season

One of the greatest and most coveted patios in the city is once again open for the season, and it's waiting for you this weekend. The new summer patio hours at Parson's Chicken & Fish are 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 a.m. until midnight Friday and Saturday. This year, the patio is bigger and better than ever before, with more outdoor seating, new bench and bleacher fixtures in the games area, and a new fire pit. To match the ambience, chef Hunter Moore has implemented some sausage-making and smoking equipment to the kitchen, and there are new brunch items in the offing.

Mother's Day Brunch at Sweet Cakes Bakery

Last minute Mother's Day brunch plans? Look no further than Sweet Cakes Bakery, which should be a nice and casual alternative to typical overcrowded and overpriced Mother's Day shenanigans. The bakery is serving a prix fixe brunch on May 10 for just $16 per person, or $6 for children 10 and younger. The menu includes a Greek yogurt parfait, eggs Benedict, and a pastry plate. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the bakery.

Cookie Class at Le Pain Quotidien

There's nothing sweeter on Mother's Day than a batch of fresh baked cookies made with love. It helps if they don't taste terrible. Let Le Pain Quotidien hold your hand and be your guide with their pre-Mother's Day cookie class on May 9. Designed for children, the adorable tutorial runs from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The hands-on class will teach kids how to decorate cookies for mom, while sipping on Belgian chocolate milk. The class is $25 per child, adult supervision is required, and you can register here
