Tax Day Dining Deals in Chicago

Tax Day is a polarizing beast. The dreaded due date for tax filing means people are either excited for a rebate or depressed about having to pay the government a whole bunch of money. Either way, we all win when it means restaurants and bars are doling out discounted specials to help ease the burn of tax burden. Here are some specials to keep in mind for Tax Day on April 15.

Takito Kitchen
Margaritas at Takito Kitchen/Bar Takito

Nothing takes the sting out of taxes like liquor. Especially margaritas. And especially when they are discounted to $4.15. The sweet, merciful nectar of tequila is front-and-center at Takito Kitchen and Bar Takito, where the stellar margs are discounted for Tax Day. Takito Kitchen offers a classic margarita, cucumber margarita, and caliente margarita, while Bar Takito features regular, cucumber, and Peruvian.

In other comforting booze news, Adamus in the Silversmith Hotel is featuring a special drink dubbed the Income Tax Cocktail. In honor of the 1040 tax form, the drink goes for $10.40, made with FEW American Gin, Antica Formula Sweet Vermouth, Noilky Prat Exyta Dry Vermouth, fresh orange juice, and angostura bitters.

If there's something else besides booze that should serve to provide solace, it's meatloaf. It's particularly nourishing when said meatloaf is in adorable cupcake shape. The Meatloaf Bakery is offering a tax break in the form of cutesy ground meat on Tax Day. On April 15, customers will receive a complimentary scoop of potatoes with the purchase of one meatloaf cupcake, with options including Yukon Smashers, Cheesy Taters, and Garlic Spuds.

Now back to our regularly scheduled liquor programing. más Mexican restaurant and tequila bar has just the ticket this year with its quirky and smartly named W-2 shot. This tax relief special shot is available for $4.15 and is made of Tromba tequila and hibiscus-lemongrass syrup.

While drowning your sorrows in beer at Tribes Alehouse & Beer Company this year, which would be a smart idea in and of itself, it would behoove you to know that you can receive a nifty discount off your food bill on Tax Day as well. Come April 15, both locales of Tribes Alehouse are offering 7.5% off total food purchase all day long.

Well isn't this nice? Francesca's Restaurant Group is "celebrating" Tax Day by picking up the sales tax for all guests who dine at Francesca's Restaurants or Davanti Enoteca on April 15. Any customer dining at one of the restaurants will earn a credit towards food and beverage purchase equal to the amount of sales tax on the overall bill. Guests must mention "Tax Day" to participate.

Wine and cocktails abound at SIP (Southport and Irving), where Tax Day specials come in the form of half-price bottles of wine and $10 Income Tax Cocktails made with Hayman's Old Tom Gin, Dolin Dry Vermouth, Carpano Antica Formula Sweet Vermouth, orange juice, and angostura bitters.

Time to get social for the opportunity to win big with Bottleneck Management. By that I mean hop on Instagram and start hash tagging. The contest is real simple: Instagram users need only post their best Tax Day-themed photo with their favorite Bottleneck restaurant's username (@HowellsandHood for Howells & Hood; @OldTownPourHouse for Old Town Pour House; @BoundaryChicago for The Boundary Tavern and Grille; @SweetwaterChi for Sweetwater Tavern and Grille; and @SouthBranchChi for South Branch Tavern and Grille) and the hashtag #TaxDayTreat. Winners will receive a free appetizer and will be drawn at random, announced on April 16.
